Bruce Ackerson,
BSEE, BSCS, CISSP
Bruce is an Electrical Engineer, Computer Specialists and Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP). He has 35 years of experience in the computer industry.
His career started in the US Navy as a computer technician during the
Viet Nam war. Along with his technical skills he also wrote numerous
program used for the diagnosis of problems in CDC mainframe computers.
A very self
driven and motivated person which allowed him to obtain the rank
of DS2 (Data Systems Technician, Petty Officer 2nd Class.)
He has worked for a number of companies including; Sperry Univac, Unisys, Megahertz, US Robotics, Axent Technologies and Symantec Corporation.
Mr. Ackerson has a BSEE and a BSCS (Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science). You can also find his name in a variety of technology publications
(e.g. PC Resource Magazine, Software Development Magazine).
He ran one of the largest PC based bulletin boards in Utah (The Redundant
Department of Redundancy Department) which is what PC users did before the
internet became popular. His Bulleting Board System (BBS) was listed as one of the tope 15 Bulletin Boards
in the United States due to the quality of the board and the technical expertise
available in a variety of conference rooms.
Mr. Ackerson has a very long background in Unix and Xwindow™.
He won contests for the most creative application in Xwindows, was lead engineer
for the X11R2 thru X11R5 Xwindow™ portation group, and wrote graphical display drivers for proprietary
hardware.
While working for Axent Technology he worked on the Enterprise Security
Manager (ESM) and Intruder Alert (ITA). Axent was procured by Symantec
Corporation (Norton Anti virus) and
Bruce worked to improve product and process as a Program Manager. Symantec wasn't interested in keepting Axent products alive, they just wanted to absorb their technology and shut the American Fork facility down.
At this point he went back into a private consulting practice and offers his services as a computer security expert.
Mr. Ackerson also enjoys singing and is involved in a Christian Gospel Quartet called Joy4Him. They just released
their first CD and continue to perform around the United States at various churches.
